We'll be closed until noon today (Friday February 26) so that we can attend the funeral of Nadine's husband, Art.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience this might cause you.

I know I keep showing this poppy fabric but I can't help myself. Every time I see it I think of Summer - which is really nice when there's still two feet of snow on the ground.

This runner that Carol made is called Simply a Pleasure.

Mardel and Shar each finished one of these Criss Cross baby quilts. Sometimes we hear that baby quilts are too large for newborns. These are just right. They'd also be really nice as play mats.

Take the pattern a step further and turn it into a table topper or wall quilt.

Remember the new poppy fabric I showed you a few days ago? Mary took some home and used the BQ pattern. it's such a versatile pattern - good when you want to feature a fabric. I've also seen it used for a t-shirt quilt - not the usual setting. Carol used it to finish an embroidered quilt for her Mom - very pretty.

Carol's been making several of the projects in One Block Wonders and Pam agreed to model the apron she just completed. It's a great book with lot's of fun and easy projects - for babies. pets, the home and simple garments - that all take just one yard of fabric. Anyone would enjoy the book, but it would be especially good for 4-H kids and other young sewers.

Several months ago my Mom and I started embroidering the twelve bird blocks in Crabapple Hill's Flight of Fancy. They were really fun to do and I finally got them put together and quilted. Customers purchased the kits without ever seeing the finished quilt so I know the rest of them will go fast now. Let us know if you want us to save one for you.

If I'm kind of quiet on here, it's because I have been using a lot of my computer time working on our new website. I've been having fun with it and also learning a lot. It shouldn't be too long now until we go live.

Karen was helping me straighten the back room today and we found a box we had forgotten was there. In it were all these short bolts of Japanese Daiwabos. We had made a special purchase of them last Spring. They are usually over $10 per yard but these are $7. I guess we found them just in time for this Spring, because many of them are light and airy.

When I got to the shop today I found this poppy fabric from Clothworks had arrived. It really felt like Spring or even Summer. Carol and I spent some time deciding on which projects we want to use it in. Everyone who sees it loves it.

I'm home today working on block 6 for our local access TV show, Quilting with Julie. We're supposed to record the 6th program tomorrow am, but I doubt I'll be able to get out our lane. It's drifting like crazy. Last night when I came home from work I could hardly get in. I'm really thankful for my Jeep.
I know most of you can't get our local channel 99. At some time we hope to have these videos on You Tube, but for the time being you can purchase dvd's at $5 per program or I post the patterns each month on our website.
I'm still working on our new website. I'm learning a lot as we go. The new site will have a lot of features the old one doesn't. It will be the same address and I'm hoping it will go live next week.

We had a great time today for Football Sunday. Thanks to all of you who braved the slick roads this AM. We had some really good bargains. If you couldn't make it out today we still have some things left and will keep them out for a while.
Our workshop in the Retreat Center was full. Each participant chose from these two kits. The top one by Shar is in flannels and Pam made the bottom one in reproductions. We called this throw Chain Gang. We have some kits still available for purchase. Price including pattern is $74.95.

Just got in this piece of Jo Morton's chintz from Andover. It will be so much fun to use. It's kind of a medium scale - the birds are about 4 inches high.

I'll be spending the next two days getting ready for Sunday's big Foutball Day sale. It's the time of year I really like to clear things out so I hope you can make it.

I took some new photos of the shop interior to use on our new website. I thought some of you who have not been here lately might like to see them. The last one shows some of the projects we've made from French General's Rouennerries for Moda. I think it is one of my favorite recent lines.
The new website should be up this week or next. It will still be www.prairiestarquilts.com
