This is my sister's Christmas Wool Crazy runner. I really think it is one of the nicest things she's ever designed.

Our Christmas in July event was nice. We had a good time. In our spare time, Pam, Shar and I started scheming about Pumpkin Gathering which will be Friday evening September 10 and Saturday the 11th this year. Watch for details.

This Saturday (July 24) we'll hold our first Christmas in July in our Retreat Center from 10 am to 4pm. All day long we'll present demos of fast and easy gift ideas. You may just watch or if you'd like to particiapate, bring your machine and basic sewing supplies.
Don't forget, most of the 2010 Christmas fabric is in. You can also see all the new samples we've been making.

Carol completed this sample in the red version of Moda's Fruitcake. I love the way this pattern showcases a large print. It's just one of the new Christmas projects you can see at this Saturday's Christmas in July. Most of our Christmas fabric has arrived - it's a good time to get the best selection.

Ann brought her newly completed batik double wedding ring to share. This picture doesn't do it justice. It will belong to her lucky daughter after it is bound. We joked about the binding taking a "long" time to do because it's going to be hard for Ann to part with it. Who can blame her?

My sister (Jan Speed, A Piece of Work) has been at it again. Her new bird runner is wool on cotton linen. I saw the beginnings of it when we went to Quilt Market and I knew it would be good. My Mom made the sample for her. There is also a new wool crazy runner which I will show you in a few days.

This Saturday is Crazy Dane Day at Prairie Star Quilts. It will be our best sale of the Summer - lots of bargains on fabric, kits, books and patterns. We'll hold it in the Retreat Center from 10 am-4 pm.

Shar just finished this quilt/table topper. She used mainly Fruitcake by Basic Grey for Moda. It is one of our favorite new Christmas lines. The large scale border fabric also comes in with red and brown background. We're using both of them in new kits, too.
I'm really starting to like some of these contemporary/decorator type Christmas fabrics.
Don't forget we'll be having Christmas in July in our Retreat Center Saturday July 24.

Here's that "big girl" version of the flannel ric rac quilt I promised you. This one is just the perfect size to use as a porch throw and of course it wouldbe great as a dorm quilt. If your "baby" is heading of to college this Fall why not whip up one of these as a take along gift?
